Hi
Am I likely to run into any difficulties replacing the disks and pads? I've done the job a number of times on older cars, and am generally competent, but the missus keeps saying that we should just pay someone to do it, in case it turns into a nightmare! :-)

As far as I can see from a quick look at the Heynes manual it won't involve any bleeding (apart from making sure the reservoir doesn't overflow) is that correct?

Thanks

Colin

I did the same on a 1996 TDI saloon. I had to get a mechanic to loosen the bolts that secure the calipers to the hub after I tried it myself. He slackened them off them retightened them so I could do the job later. Can't remember but they were seized due to exposed position.
Easy job apart from the nuts.
I put some clingfilm over the reservoir top then put rhe cap back on to reduce leakage form the undone pipe by the caliper, also put clingfilm over the open pipe to stem flow.

Its those 2x 7mm allen bolts that are the pig
And don't forget step 13 to retract the slave cylinder pistons, I used a G clamp after I figured out which way to turn them

Ebay for your 7mm allen key and clockwise turning IIRC

My rear disks were much harder, as the wheel bearings also needs swapping over.
