Noise/Interference Blaupunkt stereo

I have a 2001 Passat TDI 130 and have replaced the Gamma radio/cassette with a Blaupunkt CD/radio unit. I used all Blaupunkt adaptors/connectors to plug it all in.

The problem is I'm getting ticking and a high pitched whine which goes up and down with engine revs. It's not overly loud but is audible. I'm pretty sure it's being caused by an earthing problem. Can anybody give me advice on alleviating this?

Certainly sounds like an earth problem - try running a new earth from the radio to a clean solid bit of metal - see if it cures it
