excuse my ignorance, but how is a compression test carried out on a pd engine, t5 transporter
do the injectors or glow plugs come out?

By removing the glow plugs.But on most modern engines the compression can be measured without removing anything.With the VAG diagostic equipment,it valuates the speed of each piston,when crancking the engine, and it saves a lot work.
