My father has an 07 plate TDI 170 Quattro (his fourth Audi A4 from new!) with the S-line gubbins on for super crashy ride and expensive tyre bills.

We have noticed recently the suspension height at the rear is lower than the front and the drivers side O/S rear is even lower that the nearside rear.

It's probably about a 15mm different drop between the two rears and doesn't matter what surface it is parked on. My father is all up for waiting for the service in 4k or so as he does quite about 500 miles a week, I reckon it's worth getting looked at sooner.

Have any other A4 owners experienced similar, what are the likely causes?

TVM James.

Loving the one post wonder.

Hi James,

And Welcome to the Forum!! :beerchug:

I've certainly noticed that my A4 is slightly lower at the rear than the front, but I wouldn't say by 15mm. Will need to check between sides, but I'm pretty sure I would have noticed that by now.
Personally I would get it seen to ASAP, as if it is a broken spring it could be doing more damage, or even worse, fail totally! One quick check you could do is look at the springs, they should have three coloured rings around them near the bottom, these relate to the height and springyness of the springs. You could check that they are both the same incase Audi has made a boo boo when putting them on.

Hope that helps

It doesn't look at though it's going to collapse and the rebound is good, just looks drunk.

I see what you mean, there's a definate difference there!!

Looking at my car my rears are like your N/S/R and the front is slightly higher as yours is.

Out of interest what happens if you lift the offending rear corner, you say the rebound is good, but if you lift the arch do you hear any "clunking"?

Definately one for Audi to sort out though ;)

The father has been swayed, he's going to take it in sooner rather than later.

No point in having a warranty if you're not going to use it.

Thanks for your help. :beerchug:
