Hi Guys just bought my first ever VW a 05 passat 130tdi sport estate.....
its got a VW sat nav installed and the screen is a kind of black and white affair, there is a CD/DVD disk with the car and ive been told i can buy updated versions, now i have seen a few on E-bay but i have also seen that some Sat Nav's now have a colour screen, 1st what model of sat nav do i have!!!!!!!! and which cd/dvd do i need. sorry guys look forward to many happy years of service from the car:biglaugh:

I don't know, but from 2000 onwards they are colour, so what the hell do you have?

It is from the vwNavi forum which will answer any ? you may have.
The update disks are by Tele Atlas and cost circa £100 !!.
Do not buy a copy, as the units are very fussy about disk quality.
If you fancy a unit update to colour, then a version "D" is your best bet.
It will be very easy to change as you already have the double din space.

Here is another link as to a potential uptodate model, as it is for a B6 Passat it will not fit, but, it seems to indicate there is a model for B5 Passats. :-

Hi again, one thing I should have pointed out is that their is a differance, on DX and non Dx compatible units (see previous table i sent) DX disks are not compatible with non dx units, and would be not be returnable, under the usual software laws.
