Central locking issue

Hi, My 1999 GLX TDI Estate has central locking which works fine. However, there is a small red LED by the button on the drivers door which dosen't seem to blink. Can anybody tell me why this is?? Cheers

The red led indicates the safe function which is, when in safe function, one is unable to open the vehicle from the inside.You need a fault code read to find the reason why
