intermitant door swtich

Can Anyone tell me how the door switch works ?? The drivers side one
on my 2001 TT sometimes doesn't open the window and turn the light on when you open the door .
What looks like a switch with a rubber surround doesn't look like anything presses it in when the doors shut . The other side is the same and works fine .

There is a micro switch built in to the lock
It quite common that the switch fails.

Is that a DIY fix ?. Can I just change the switch or is it part of the lock ?

This morning the damn window went down and wont go back up !!
Hope it doesn't rain today !!!!!!!
Is there a way a fudging the lock switch for the moment so it'll go up and
stay up ??
Does anyone know how much this part will cost ? the part code would be nice.
