Anyone out there know when these are likely to be available in the UK. I found one dealer who says me September /October but reading reviews and talking to other dealers I think they want to take my deposit to secure the order and tell me later that it wont be until next year.

Any factory order Tiguan auto will be around 12 months as they have stopped producing them for the time being. Can't remember why atm but I was told the same by many dealers.

There are some auto's out there at the dealers but have yet to see a 170bhp version.

Manual factory orders are about 3 months.

Still the same delay on Tiguan auto 170bhp's I'm reliably informed. My manual has been delayed for further 5 weeks as well - still believe its worth waiting for though and pretty damned rare on the roads in UK.

Has anyone driven one in comparison to the 140bhp as I'd be interested to read about the difference??

Thanks

I had a 140 for 6 months and thought it was pretty good. Although some of this was down to liking the new CR engine in comparison to the PD.

I now have a 170 manual SE. It's teriffic, much pokier than the 140 - fuel economy near as dammit the same. I've done 2000 miles or so, including driving down Ireland on holiday, and the car is pacy for an SUV.

I can thoroughly recommend the Pano S/R and the nav. The reversing camera, however, only seems to work when it feels like it.

Just been told by the Dealer that my 170 will be ready for first week in October & must say I'm really looking forward to it. I've been using a 140 with a pano roof since July and personally couldn't see the point apart from the extra light that it let in - only opened it 2 or 3 times and then got fed up.

I've gone for the nav as well and also leather upholstery with a few other nice toys.....

What's the first gear like on take off with the 170, as I've found the 140 a bit of a pain in having to change virtually immediately from take off. I've regularly been starting off in 2nd and throwing in a few more revs to overcome any problems.

Only really daft thing I found with mine is as I've mentioned on this site a couple of times is the stupid luggage cover - neither one thing nor the other, and storage is a problem if you end up with a couple of cases sttod on end....

Any niggles and solutions you've found?

First gear doesn't feel nearly as short as in the 140, you can make a proper getaway, esp. uphill with the 4wd....

I wouldn't recommend to anybody setting off in 2nd with revs in a 140 as you will do for the dual mass flywheel eventually. Try getting change out of £700 for one of those beauties.

The luggage cover is a regular car type parcel shelf, the up and down height of the boot isn't enormous, but I filled to boot on holiday and kept it in. If it was a regular luggage blind, the storage bar would be more intrusive IMHO.

Having driven a Passat CC, I would like to see the option to have a default setting for the Auto Hold to be on, as it's irritating to have to switch it on every time you start the car.

Use the SD card for transferring pre-titled media onto the HDD, it's much quicker.

The Pano SR will wind back a half turn further than the auto open position. This cuts out the majority of the wind judder without having to open a window.

Make sure you use the Auto zoom function in the Nav, it's very good. Turn on the Lane Assist also.

I had a small exchange with a Golf GTi last night. It didn't get away....

Thanks for that, I'll look forward to the experience as of next week and take your advice on taking off in 2nd.

I've not gone for the pano SR as I thought the price was a bit steep for something that I'd rarely open - I've had one on the 140 and only felt that the extra light was a bonus and with air con, you've got to ask "Why?" I'm having beige leather so hopefully it will be that much brighter inside anyway.

I've experienced a little fun with the auto - hold myself and still don't think I've quite mastered it, as sometimes it works well and others it doesn't appear to be engaged - I'll probably seek some advice from the Dealer next time I'm in.

Still think VW designers could have sorted the luggage cover out much more sensibly - I've had a look at the Honda CRV and its a dream in comparison..... but I don't like the drive, seating and finish of the Honda, so I'm much happier with the Tiguan.......especially with 170bhp!

Keep the tips and experiences coming and I'll share my thoughts as I become more familiar with my new baby!!

Best :approve:

Which particular model of GTI did you finish? Test drove one today, and feels lot slower then my GT TDI PD130, but obviously couldn't drive it properly with the escort.

Probably know for certain in a week.

Any known faults/issues to look out for?

Cheers.

Couldn't drive it properly on test drive, but it does fly, you just don't realise how fast you're going as the engine is so refined and silent from inside. Lot more quieter then the GT TDI PD 130 I'm used to. An M series BMW (52 plate cabriolet woteva) driver that tried to overtake me on left lane experienced what 350 NM of torque is capable of doing he-he
