Passat B5 1.8 engine code

Hi everyone, not had this car long, it's a 1998 Passat B5 estate, 1.8 engine. I need to order some parts for it but it appears there are lots of different engine variants. How do I determine what engine code mine is?

I know it's a basic question, I tried searching but struggled. Many thanks.

APT? Should be stamped on the engine towards the back

Thanks for the reply. I'm not with the car now so can't check the engine. Is the engine code the first three letters of the engine number of the DVLA reg document?

You will find it on your registration documents, aswell as a few places under the bonnet
