Leon leak

Does anybody know if or when seat sorted the leak on leons (mk1) and toledos (mk1) that would cause the footwells to become very soggy resulting in soaking carpets?

My friend had an early leon cupra and sold it because he couldnt find the source of the leek. I wouldnt want to buy one (a leon) to find it has this problem. Any help would be great, thanks.

The leak is mainly due to one of two things, either the door seal or the pollen filter. See links for more info:
