1999 a3 front seats not clicking in

my audi a3 (1999) was fine when i bought it but now for some reason the 2 front seats dont click into place and stay where there supposed to.

this means everytime i brake, my seats fine because my weights on it but the passenger seat just flies forward as far as it can go. this can get very annoying and scare the living out of you when u have to break hard and see the passanger seat almost go through the wind screen.

i dont think it ever will actually come of its brackets but u never know.

anyone else had this problem or kno how to sort it?

I'd have a look underneath, you should be able to see if the seat adjuster is engaging on the ratchet.

Strange that it's happening on both seats though:boggled:
