So my rear middle seatbelt was stuck, fixedit, now how do i prevent?

i fixed my seatbelt because the tension got to tight when i put the seat down. i fixed it by unbolting the end. now my question is what is a good way to prevent this from happening? anyone have some good ideas? i have a 1999 jetta new body style
