Does anyone know how to adjust the release mechinism on an 02 new beetle..mine makes a noise and releases to a point, but ya can't open it, without someone lifting on it when you hit the release button..

My Beetle does the same, is this a known fault then? Did you ever find a remedy?

Thanks for answering, I have not took time to work on it as yet. It is so aggrivating, and I will post it if I can fix it.. Seems like it just needs a little help, if you lift it when release button is hit, it will open fine..

yup, sounds like exactly the same issue ours has.

Occasionally if you press the release button on the fob, then grab the boot lid straight away, it opens first time, but this is rare!

Its always a case of pressing the fob once, then again to get it to 'let go' of the catch.
