Hello,

Sorry my very first post is a cry for help, but I'm hoping someone here can help me as I'm well and truly stuck in a very difficult position!

To cut a long story short(ish), I'd just sold my TTR 225 - px for an A6 (first baby on the way :)) - but on the way back from having agreed the deal, the ESP light came on.
Obviously needed this checking and sorting before I completed the deal the following weekend, so booked it into an Audi specialist.
They checked the diagnostics and the following error code came back:

- lateral acceleration sensor implausible signal -

A new lateral acceleration sensor was fitted and all seemed OK on their test drive.
However, when I went to pick the car up, the ESP light came back on.
Another diagnostic check and the following error codes appeared:

- lateral acceleration sensor implausible signal -
- electrical fault in current circuit -

The ESP light doesn't necessarily stay on all of the time, it's intermittent, but seems to go through phases, sometimes more on than off and vice versa.
They've tried clearing these faults, but with no success.
Likewise, the wiring has been checked, switches, etc - and I'm getting desperate now, as I'm likely to lose the deal on the A6 and my deposit.

Next step is to look at the ABS Control Unit, but with no guarantee of fixing the problem and a cost of c. £700, this isn't a road I want to go down if I can help it.
Can anyone PLEASE help?

Many thanks.

change the longitude sensor as well and adapt.

Thanks very much for the very speedy reply, I appreciate it.
So it could be an issue with the longitudinal sensors, even though they're not coming up as a fault on the VAG COM?

I'll get them to try that then.

Thank you.

Try to reset the basic setting as per above link.
When this used to happen the repair was always both of the sensors and reset.

Just to update, I passed on your advice, a8 tech - and it did the trick!!!
So thank you very much - got me out of a very awkward situation - fault fixed, and the deal with the A6 has been completed.

Having done a bit more digging, I THINK that they originally replaced the working, longitudinal sensor instead of the faulty lateral one.

By switching the other one - the faulty lateral sensor (which they thought was the longitudinal sensor) - they finally sorted the problem.

So got there in the end.

Once again, thanks very much.

Sorry to see the TT go, but practicality is the name of the game at the minute ..................... or will be in about 2 weeks time! :)

Thanks very much.
