Hi, I've recently put some 17" VW Activa alloys on my Mk5 Golf GT TDI. When I am driving in a straight line the steering wheel seems to be slightly angled to the right. I had the same problem when the wheels were on my previous car (Mk 5 Golf 2.0 SDI). I did have the tracking done on that car but it didn't seems to cure the problem. Do I need to re-balance the wheels?

I was wondering how I can cure this issue? It's not a massive problem but it is a tad annoying and I would like to sort it out.

Hope someone can help. Thanks

Owen

I have a similar problem on my MK4 Golf but am living with it. If you can (tyres not directional) try swopping wheels left to right (worked with a previous car).

Failing this, you could adjust the tracking on each side until the steering is straight. I had this done on a Focus but a mechanic friend pointed out that this could reduce the steering lock on one side. I can't say I noticed any detrimental effect when manouvering in the car park.
