Iv just had a tow bar with single electrics fitted to my year 2001 a3 1.8 non quattro, now when i put the indicators on i can hear the clicking of the indicators and a second very quiet clicking from the back of the car. It is as if there is a relay switch or similar? It was a garage who fitted the tow bar and not myself. I also have a saab that has a tow bar and it does not have the second clicking on the indicators.

Is this normal/anything to worry about? Any advice would be great, thanks.

in my opinion the towbar tick should only be audible when there is a tail board in use.

a lot of older cars had an audible beep when indicators were used, with a trailer or such attached, I can't remember if this was a legality thing or not.

Whilst I agree it is annoying, I suspect it's some sort of fail-safe to alert you should an indicator fail on the trailer being towed?
