Just a note to say be on your guard ,
I recently purchased a new brake pedal brake switch , as mine burned out !!
Anyway , the new switch has a adjustment mechanism that basically locks the push rod in the right place so it works correclty ,,
I fitted as per VW instructions, but it did not work !!
I thought i broke it as there is quite a bit on the net about these fragile switches and the VW guy said they have had a few customers return them , but they did it by incorrect fitting !!! so i was extra careful
I then put a meter across the connecting pins, none of the 4 pins made a circuit ,
I then opened up the switch ( quite easy and im a qualified electrician and had a mate with me who is a qualifed electronics engineer ) and saw that due to a design fault the contacts are just too far apart to make !!! :zx11:
so nice work VW !!:aargh4:
There is also no fragile contacts that could break if fitted incorrectly, its acutally quite robust contacts !!!
Anyway as i opened up the switch there was no way they would take it back now
So i modified it myself , and it now works perfectly , :D
So dont be fobbed off if you buy one , and it doesnt work and VW say you broke it due to incorrect fitting !!!
As thats bull***
As you were !!
