Hopefully someone can help!
I have an 04 Beetle with 20,000 miles on the clock, and a couple of weeks ago the exhaust blew. I took it to a garage and whilst up on the ramp they noticed oil sprayed underneath. They investigated further and found the oil was coming from the gearbox. Further inspection revealed that the outer casing of the gearbox had cracked virtually all the way round!
I have raised a case with VW Customer Care as I believe this to be a manufacturers fault rather than driver. In the past 2 weeks I have been told that there computer system is down....for 3 days; they are gathering information from the retailer; the retailer hasn't filled in the right part of the form and so on. It is now 2 weeks and I still haven't got any further, and in the meantime I am without my Beetle :zx11:
Firstly, am I right in thinking that the gearbox shouldn't crack after such low mileage? It has been serviced by VW throughout and has never shown any signs of anything wrong.
Secondly, has anyone else had similar problems with VW Customer Care?
If anyone can help or offer any advice, I'd be really grateful!!
