As a company car tax payer, I feel very disappointed and slightly cheated. The reduced CO2 emissions are worth a few bucks to me.

I placed an order at the start of May (2.0TDi S-Line) and received an email from my dealer yesterday to say that the car would be built in two weeks time, and and that delviery was typically 4 weeks after that.

Have emailed him this morning to ask if my car gets the 2009 facelift engine - will let you know what I hear back.

I'm the same, placed my order for a 2.0tdi Liner at the begining of May, but it doesn't get built for two weeks.......so if that article is correct then it will have the 2009 reduced co2 engine. How strange is this by the way? Was someone tinkering in the workshop and suddenly found a way to reduce the co2, Why can't Audi learn a bit from BMW on CO2? ! So what will this save us on 40% tax?

This should make no differance on your company car tax as the drop in C02 for 2.0tdi is from 144 to 139 and band C range is 121-150.

I disagree - I think the company car tax liability will drop from 19% to 18%. Which for a 40% tax payer means annual tax bill on a standard a4 2.0 TDi s-line goes from just under £2000 to just under £1900, so saving around £100 per year.

The band up to 150g/co2 is for road tax, the company car bands are narrower and change with every 5g/co2 - see www.vcacarfueldata.org.uk/search/companyCarTaxSearch.asp

I rang my Audi dealer and received my first bit of good luck in the whole process of ordering this car ... my car will come with 139g/km CO2 :D

I've been informed that all cars after build week 22 will come with the new engine modifications.

sounds to me like audi always intended these engines to go in the new A4 but they just werent ready in time for the B8 launch, so they threw in some "old" engines to pad the gap.

I would agree but the engines in the B8 are the new generation common rail units and so even the 'old' engines are very new!

JKH112, I placed the order on the 24th of April through LeasePlan (company car) and the order was processed by Audi Newbury. Build week was week 23 (last week) and the dealer expects delivery late June or first week in July.

Highway TG, thanks. My order was either the last weekof April or the first week of May, so Hopefully I too should be okay and maybe I can expect my car sometime in July.

If you are getting a 2009 model year SE or S-Line make sure you get the AUX-IN input in the car, with Concert head unit (Order Code 8UD). This is standard on the SE & S-Line but a £300 option on the 'Standard' car. Order code is 8UM for 6CD Symphony unit but then they rush you for £275 on the SE and S-Line.

Thats great news, another 8 pounds back in my pocket each month. My outging A4 is a 2.0se petrol and I get my fuel included so switching to this TDi 2009 engine will be good all round.

I work for a German company and over there I hear they deal with taxation on company cars using a different system. Now how is it then that these revisions to the co2 values seem to be aimed at us here in the UK so that their engines fit in lower percentage brackets for us? Does anyone actually know if the taxation rules are different around europe or are they larely the same as ours? Just a thought.

How do Audi reduce the CO levels?

Is it just a remapping exercise or physical mods to the engine?

Presumably if it's just software then early production models can be updated?

Presumably this also has an effect on mpg figures. Does anyone know what happens to the 3.0tdi since this is the engine which appears to benefit most from reduced CO2 emmissions
