moving the head unit in to the cubby hole

Hi i have 2001 vw bora and am trying to find out if you can swop the single din head unit position with the cubby hole above? It looks like they are both the same size but i'm not sure how you would secure the head unit cage.
Any thoughts much appreciated.

I had a CD changer fitted to a Mk4 golf.
The audio shop moved the head unit into the cubby and put the changer below so it can be done.
