New A4 Few Probs

My A4 1997 (P) 1.8 SE arrived today. Since driving it i have noticed faults i didn't notice on the test.

1) Oil temp gauge deflection is very slight.

2) Temp gauge only quarter of travel when driving. when idling it will reach the half way mark

3) struggles at low rpm and has a slight hesitation

4) can't lock steering wheel


Can Anyone Help Please??

Just few answers to your queries:

2, new thermostat is required
3, not sure if this model has a MAF meter, could be broke, or just the fact the engine isn't warming properly. When and what was last service?
4, You could double check it as some need some turns to lock it. Do you have a separate key for ignition and door? Could have been stolen and the lock broken?

I have all 4 original keys with the car, so will try giving the wheel a few turns.
Is the thermostat simple enough to change and should i use a genuine audi part for it??
Am hoping 1) 2) and 3) are related to the thermostat!!
