This is my first post (of many more hopefully).
I have just test driven a Polo 1.6 with an auto box - really nice car as it has just done 40000 miles although there is potentially a major problem and want to know what it could be and is it worth the purchase. Oh and it has fsh.
When driving in 'D'- the car picks up smoothly but revving it whilst on the move makes the revs go to the red line with no acceleration. Feels like a clutch slipping on a manual car. When the car is doing say 40 miles an hour and the foot is off the accelerator the car revs only at idle speed.
As i only drove it a few miles my first impression is major auto gearbox problem therefore to walk away but other than this the car is nice and would like to buy it.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
