02 A4 1.9 tdi 130 sport (with chip).40K miles. Starting in the morning or after a period of sitting around (18 hrs or so) the car runs very roughly and is smoky for 30 secs or so. It feels to me like it is burning excess fuel in a cylinder. Leaky injector?? heater plug ?? I have tried pre heating a couple of times prior to starting but there is not much different. Is this engine prone to injector problems. I ran some injector cleaner through the fuel system but no difference. Once it has cleared it runs well and without excess smoke. I downloaded VAG codes a month or so ago and no issues showing.
