I'm posting this here instead of the audi a4 forum because i think my engine is in vw's too.
I have a 2005 A4 2.0 tdi 140bhp s-line avant, and have been having some problems of late:1zhelp:

When driving "gently" ie not accelerating hard, it seems that i have a very slight juddering in the power band.
Somewhere around 2-4000 rpm.
If i drive hard it doesn't happen.
Does anyone know what this could be, or have had it happen to them?

Ah my dad has a 2006 a4 2.0tdi avant and his recently did that as well.

Since his car is still under the motorplan they replced his fuel filter at no cost and all is good.

I dunno if yours is under motorplan but that was my dad's problem - Iam no mechanic so I cannot guarentee anything. Ask the Audi garage...:D

Just had a look on eurocar parts and a bosch fuel filter is about £ 15.
Lets just hope there not hard to fit, i can just picture the scene.....
Yes sir that will be £ 15 for the part and £ 200 for fitting.

LOL thats true...

Just make sure its compatible with the car and that it cannot cause any harm (ask the Audi dealer) rather safe than sorry

My A3 seems to have the same problem but it is only in 2nd and 4th Gears do you think it could be the same problem ???

it was serviced 7k miles ago so i would assume th filter should be good ??

If its a diesel yes; if not Im not sure...

To both of you I think you should visit the dealer... They might not check EVERYTHING and there is always the possibilty that they didnt check the fuel filter:approve:

Hope thats helpful:biglaugh:

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM!! now this IS interesting indeed.Mine has done the same recently, and today I noticed my fuel filter is actually leaking. The metal housing has corroded away.Ill be getting a new un' tomorrow me thinks.Theyre easy as pe to fi.Take the tubes off either end **CAUTION THE FUEL IS PRESSUREISED SO WATCH YOUR EYES,MY MATE GOT SPRAYED RIGHT IN BOTH HIS EYES ONLY LAST WEEK** drain any fuel from teh filter by simply tipping it up, undo the bracket that holds it to the body. Then put new fella back on.

Update, I had a garage next to my work change the fuel filter on friday, he put a fram filter in, which i was happy with as i reconised the name.
The car stil judders a bit, but not as much as it did [ 1-2000rmp] now!!
Now do i have it changed again for a audi 1 or is it something else?
