Battery Bay Cover

Folks,

After much searching, I've bought a 53 plate 130 TDi SE online. I'm picking it up in ten days or so once the funds have cleared...

Looking at the photos on the internet, it seems as though the plastic cover for the battery bay behind the engine may be missing (photo attached). Anyone know how much something like that is likely to cost? Maybe I'd be better trying a scrappy if it's going to be dear from a main dealer.

I've already chipped them £300 and don't like to mention it :biglaugh:

Hey,

Have a look in the B7 folder, there is a thread in there regarding exactly this. Parts come to about £30 from a dealer if I remember rightly!!

But I think the B6 should come with them so if you bought the car from the dealer have a moan at them and see if they'll replace it. If they're any good they should!!

Does anybody know the name of the large bit of plastic that holds the battery cover? That large bit of plastic that runs along the top of the engine bay.

Thanks Slinger247 that's interesting. Maybe there isn't meant to be one there. I used to have a 51 plate A4 Tdi 100 SE saloon and that had one. It seems like some of the B7's don't have one from the thread that elPaulio pointed out. If the dealer doesn't come up with the goods I may pick one up somewhere. I was just a bit worried that water may get in or something, but obviously that isn't an issue!

Whebn my battery cover got old and wouldnt hold itself in place, I bought one from audi, it cost about £3- £5 if i remember correctly, peanuts.

The battery bay cover is merely a superficial piece as it's not watertight. There are drain holes under the battery and the brake booster that let water get out of the battery bay.

I just had my car serviced the other day and apparently there's a campaign 51B7 for the B6s. The dealer did this campaign fix on my car and apparently it only involves removing the rubber plug around the drainage holes in the battery bay to prevent them from clogging with debris, leaves. etc. Just a heads-up for you guys!

I have 2004 A4 and I swear it had a battery cover. I called the dealer and he stated (not exactly sure he said) that they stopped shipping the cars with a cover. My neighbour has a 2005 and it is also missing.
Does anyone have a 2004 with a cover that came from the manufacturer?

If it's any help, my mate bought a 04 TDi 130 B6 and that came with no trim cover. He has just ordered the two part plastic plenium/battery cover from Audi for £18 and a few pence.

this part is called a plenum chamber cover battery cover comes seperate it fits under the plenum chamber my audi a4 tdi 115 54 plate did not have one and went to the dealer and they said this model dont have one so check with the dealer if your car had one at first

all the b6's iv had and thats a few has had the cover iv never seen a b7 with the full cover my 2005 has got the small cover on the passanger side right ov the batt

b6 audi a4 with the tenth digit on the vin number 5 does not come with a full cover 10th digit is year ones before do and its called plenum chamber cover!!! about £12.50 from the dealer battery cover is seperate and about £6

Mine came with one, but I kind of 'ahem' broke it.
Got to go to audi soon, might ask if they have any.
