Folks,

Just a wee problem that I need confirmation of. I have a 98 Octavia with a 1.8 20V non-turbo that is using coolant and emulsion can be found at the oil filler cap. It has 157K on the clock with a full detailed service history.

Is it just the head gasket that needs looked at or as with my VR6 the oil cooler seals can perish, or any other known problems I don't know about:1zhelp: .

Thanks for any help you can offer.

Yes the oil-cooler seals can fail, but you will usually get oil in the water and not the other way around.
Mayonaise on the filler cap can just be because of short runs in the winter.
A garage can test for exhaust fumes in the water.
How much water are we talking about ?

Loosing about 150ml a month, doing a combination of short and good long (1hr plus) journeys but emulsion builds up again after I clean the oil filler neck. Off to see what the garage can test and quote.

Would you suggest/recommend and gasket set supplier or go to Skoda?

Thanks
