Front Disk Pads

I have a 2.5 V6 Superb 2005 and the car has covered 24000 miles - I had the rear disks and pads replaced at 22000 miles but can anyone tell me how many miles I should get out of the front pads. I know there is an indicator that will come on (hopefully) when they do need replacing. Does this happen giving you plenty of time to get the pads replaced or does it show when pads and disks are US?

These days’ pads and discs are usually done together; the days of two maybe three sets of pads to one set of discs are long gone.
