hi can anyone help me i am having problem with my auto gears when driving off gear does not change until it reaches about 3 t0 4000 revs i have to put it in to neautral then it changes ok also when it is changing ok if i push accelerator hard it does not change gears which normally it should jump down a gear to go faster, i have had a recon gearbox put in because the gearbox went completely dead at on time but i am still having same problem i have been back to garage that replaced gear box they keep it for a day or two i bring it back ok for a day or so then the same thing happens again i dont understand what could be the problem i dont think the garage that replaced gearbox know what is exactly wrong withit,
can somone please help i love my car i dont want to get rid of it.
it is a 97 r reg 2.8 vr6 carat

hi everyone i think i have found the problem to my gear box i have been told by a gearbox specialist that i have to change my throttle body then it should get back to normal, you can only buy one from vw which costs £328 and £150 labour .
if any one knows wher i can get it cheaper please let me know

hi i have changed the T.BODY it was ok for a few days then it just started again, i have been unable to take it back to the garage have been so busy that i need the car eveyday it's a strange problem sometime it works fine and then it goes all funny. i will take it back to the garage one more time if they dont fix it i will take action against them in total they must have had the car for about 3 months

I have just joined this forum as our 2002 sharan 1.9 tdi auto gearbox went today - we have been having probs with acceleration like you for some months. Took it to garage and they said it had seized up so we now have to find a specialist. I just wanted to check what the result of your episode please and how was it resolved. Did you need a new gearbox in the end and did that work? Thank you very much.
