View Full Version : Advice please - Sharan rear speaker install??

I'm looking for some help - I would like to install some rear speakers (i.e adjacent to seats 6 & 7) and would appreciate any advice from anyone who can help. I am not prepared to pay the cost of the 'upgrade' offered by VW, so will be installing some after market speakers. I'm not big into superb sound systems in cars, just want to be able to get music to the very rear of the car, which is usually occupied by my 2 teenage daughters.

I have a 2004 Sharan, 130BHP. There is a Gamma radio/cassette in the front and a 6 CD autchanger fitted in the rear storage compartment.

I would like to know where is the best place to install them, how to remove any necessary panels (without breaking them), where the wires are located, what speakers to use etc etc.

Any advice appreciated..............

Many thanks

Andy

Andy,
I don't think this will be a particularly easy install. I have a 2001 Galaxy (same as a Sharran only with an awful blue oval on the front!) and it has two small 2-way spakers mounted approximately halfway up the rear pannel adjacent to seats 6 and 7. There is a possibility that your sharan may be pre wired for the rear speakers (though being VW it is unlikely)hence you will need to cut a suitable hole for the size speakers you wish to fit. If this is not the case then you will probably need to install an additional amplifyer (depending on how many speaker outputs your head unit has). You might be better advised by an independent mobile car audio and security specialist - they will also obviously be able to give you a price for the complete install.

Hi Gavin,

Thanks for your reply...maybe when the weather gets warmer I'll take a look into this a bit more earnestly. Do you have any tips on removing the large side panels?

Thanks again

Andy
