Took my car t the main dealer last week. (2006 2.0 TDI SE) ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. tHEY GAVE THE ECU A SOFTWARE UPDATE BUT SAID IF THE PROBLEM CONTINUES THEY WILL HAVE TO CANGE THE WIRING LOOM. GOT TO THE END OF THE ROAD AND LIGHT CAME BACK ON AGAIN. BOOKED CAR IN FOR A LOOM CHANGE UNDER WARRENTY. WHEN THEY STARTED THE JOB THEY NOTICED ACCIDENT REPAIR AND SAID WARRENTY NO LONGER VALID BECAUSE REPAIR WAS NOT DONE AT MAIN DEALER.
QUESTION 1 IS THE WIRING LOOM ISSUE A COMMON FAULT.
QUESTION 2 CAN THE MAIN DEALER DO THIS WHEN THE ACCIDENT HAS NO BEARING ON THE FAULT.

Hi The wiring loom is not a common issue unless damaged by water ingress. They can not refuse to replace the wiring loom unless the previous repairs can have caused any damage to the wiring.

what was the fault code?? They can refuse to do the work if the accident caused the fault or if the wiring has been repaired by a non-vw dealer as warranty will only cover for manufacture defect not accident damage defect but if they can see where the damage is on the loom they should be able to repair it.
