Which engine in My b5 turbo 20v?...

Hi there, ive been looking for info on which engine i have in my Passat...

It is a 2000 Y reg B5, one of the very last B5 shapes i think...

Its a 20v turbo but i dont know any more than that.

I was just wondering what sort of power i can safely tune it to with a chip and decat. I dont want to keep throwing money at it so what would be a safe BHP figure to aim for..

If you take of the engine cover, on the right hand side, there is a small metal lip sticking out, its got your engine code on there.

Right, ive just checked...

My engine code is APU

So what would be a descent BHP to get out of this engine without pushing it too close to its limits..

I take it the APU is the crappest of the 20v turbo engines?...

I had an APU engined A4, running a REVO re-map when I got it, otherwise standard amd it was pushing around 200bhp / 200lb/ft torque.

Went nicely! I added a de-cat and Milltek exhaust which gave it a bit more responsiveness but for the outlay, I'd just go for a re-map to be honest.

It will be plenty quick enough and very different to what it feels like now. You'll easy see 140+ on the speedo on the Autobahn.
