Towbar wiring looms

VW produce 2 wiring looms for towbar electrics

3C0.055.203 has a 7 pin 12N socket and 3C0.055.204 has a 13 pin Euro socket.

Are these looms identical with just a socket difference or are they really different wiring also. The 12N 7 pin socket looks as though it is mounted on top of something else and not directly onto the mounting plate.

Don't know about the difference in looms, but my factory fit bat has a 13 Pin socket - as I discovered when I came to plug a 7 pin trailer plug into it!!
Bought an adapter and can now use 7 pin plug in 13 pin socket.
You can alos buy a 13 pin to 2x 7 pin sockets so that if you have double electrics for a caravan you are ok. So I would get a 13 pin as it is one socket that can do the job of two, and tucks nicely away under a panel.
