A4 Avant Tailgate Panel

Can anyone help with some advice on removing the tail gate interior panel from my A4 Avant 2002 .

I have removed 4 screws so far (2 inside boot and 2 inside emergency triangle compartment) and popped all the clips but the panels seems firm in each corner below the rear windscreen. I can see a screw in each corner (by torchlight) but am completely mystified as to how I am to get to them short of losing about 3 inches off my wrist diameter!

Once the 4 bottom screws are removed, pop the fasterners across the top of the panel next to the window. Then in each top corner the trim needs to be pulled upwards towards the window - Audi has a special trim pulling tool - basically a small flat bar hooked at the end.

I'm trying to fix a non-closing tailgate.

I have managed to remove the actuator (white box) but need to access the soft catch mechanism for the tailgate release.

The Inverness Audi ******* I spoke to today said that there are two microswitches in the soft catch release which often get water logged and fail.

Any experiences?
