Hi Guys,

Had a call from my dealer to say that they have just taken delivery of their S-line demonstrator. I have taken some pictures but they really don’t do the car justice as the car had not been prepped and had just come of the transporter, although it gives an idea about how good this car will be.

I was also shown an A5 in white, with the 7 arm double spoke wheels which Ill be getting on my s-line.

Car ordered - A4 2.0 TDI S-line in Ibis white, 19" 7 arm double spoke wheels, S-line suspension, servotronic steering.

Thanks for the pics, although it's hard to get a feel for the complete beast.

Those chrome twin exhausts are looking sweet, as are the alloys.

Any chance of some more pics once it's been prepped?? Any idea what the colour is? Looks like meteor grey.

Thanks for these photos! At least now we know that they actually exist! I was expecting the frot to look a little different as it seems to be the same grill and angles as the standard. I read it was an "agressive" stance...... which suggested it was going to be different than the standard.

Thanks for the photos, No rear parking sensors on this one?! I got over three months yet to wait.........

front grill is differant from the standard, the bonnet lines run through into the bumper on the s-line

Hi Chap's, colour of the S-line was Aruba blue. However I did notice the grill was Grey and not the gloss black in the pricing and specification guide.

The picture of the S Line above can't be Aruba Blue. Aruba Blue is like the Maritius Blue that Audi had available a few years ago.

This is one of the greys isnt it? Looks like Meteor Grey........

Defo not Aruba blue!

mkc

It cant be Aruba blue, take a look at the audi car config on audi.co.uk and look at Aruba blue, and well, how blue it is. Ive got Aruba blue coming for a S Line and ive seen the blue im getting on a SE, and its notthe same as those pictures Im affraid. Unless either your dealer or my dealer seriously colour blind and one of us is getting something we dont want!

Definitely not Aruba blue. Looks like meteor grey.
And Aruba blue is NOT an S-line colour.
Misano red & Monza silver are S-line colours.

mkc
09-05-2008, 08:20 AM
Volmmer - Missano Red and Monza Silver are S Line colours that are unique to the S Line. That is to say that you cannot have those two colours in SE or Standard Spec. However, you can have any colour as a S Line so whatever colour this is (I pray its not Aruba Blue ) its a valid S Line in whatever colour it is.

We have about a 50/50 on the true colour so far!
Do a search in Google using the Image search for Aruba Blue, I guess there is no true Aruba Blue so there are different shades but the ones on Google all come back as at least being blue, the pictures of the S Line are grey

Hi guys,

I have spoken to the dealership today and I can now confirm that the pictures of the car were in meteor grey and not aruba blue. Sorry for the confusion. the dealership had 2 demo cars and the other is in aruba blue - the salesman got a bit confused!

Hi, its not due to arrive until August.........however, in the mean time if you go to audi.co.uk looks at used cars, sort by A4, then cost high to low, then blue colours, 3rd page there is an Aruba Blue SE B8.

Its based at Doncaster......

Here it is, Ive tried to attach it. Belongs to Audi so I hope I dont get in trouble and I guess it will be removed at some point! Its almost the same as the Mrs A3 Mauritius Blue, which is why I went for it for my A4. Neighbours will laugh im sure with two cars the same colour on the drive.

Thanks again mkc, I found another Aruba Blue A4 on the Audi used car locator and have posted the pic. The photo you posted appears very bright, this one is darker, I suspect that it depends on the lighting conditions but I'm glad that I went for the colour, not too light, not too dark - nice sporty colour :)

mkc
12-05-2008, 12:22 PM
Agreed, I went for this as the blade bit on the grill at the bottom of the S Line should contrast the blue. I think the colour change you mention is the Pearl effect in the paint which is how it differs from Metallic. Looks like we are getting the same cars!

Hi guys new to the site,

ordered new 2.0tdi s-line last friday, arriving last week in june.
Had trouble deciding on what colour to choose, purely on the basis of what colour shows the lines of the car the best, was a toss up between white and misano red finally plumped for white without ever seeing one in the flesh. Was wondering if there is any dealers about stocking the s-line as a demonstrator? Anyone have views on the white s-line?

Wow......... looks great. I cant work out how the grill is different to a standard/SE model. The bumper is different, thats easy.

Looks great, love the seats and the back bumper. Side skirts are there but not that obvious which I like as we dont want it to look like a 18 year old Corsa!

Looks good in that colour too. Lucky man having yours now.

How many miles have you done?

steve1234
13-05-2008, 12:20 PM
Thanks, yes I'm pleased with it's looks, I always have black cars, must be a gluton for punishment!!!

I did want the 19s but couldn't on such an early car but I have to say I'm growing to like the 18s!! The ride is good on the 30mm lower suspension (and I think the suspension helps the looks!!) but it could be very hard and track about on the bigger / wider rims. I'll see, may upgrade......

The seats are very nice, I've got the silver stitching and I think it works well with the silver dash inlays and B&O silver surrounds. I see you're going for the full on stealthy black interior, I bet that will look fantastic!!!

Side skirts are spot on, they are apparently the same as on an A5, nice and low key - quite right, I am not a Chav!! I think the front bumper is generally about the same, it's got the "platinum optic" bit in the middle but I expeced that to be a bit brighter, it's actually the same as the trim on the back bumper.

Have already done 240 miles since pick up yesterday!!!! Had to collect someone from the airport etc. so me and my car are getting to know each other quickly!

MTM tuning on Friday.......

Yep, the 30mm makes all the difference doesn't it! It's the one slight thing about my black non S-Line A4 on 18" - bit of a gap :)

Is it a trick of the light, or have you got a sunroof there?

Still happy with my decision to go black, just wish there wasn't quite so much pollen floating around our driveway :(

steve1234
13-05-2008, 12:38 PM
Hi Andy,

I know what you mean about the pollen, I have 2 back cars on the drive now!!! The Audi was dirty before it went anywhere (but still looked great!).

No trick of the light, there's sunroof there - can't seem to do without one for those country lane jaunts!!! I used to like the wind in my hair but there's less of that now so it's more like wind on my head!!

steve1234
13-05-2008, 01:53 PM

MTM tuning on Friday.......

Have they given you any indication of power on this? I spoke to them a month or so ago and to AMD Technik.

Both said the re-map on a 2.0Tdi would hopefully produce 180-190bhp from the 140bhp standard!

Dealer has also said they can do the re-map with no issues to the warranty etc! Woudl be very keen to hear your thoughts!

The S Line badges only appear on the wings on the B8. On the B7 Ive seen them on the grill (top left) and on the rear and in their proper place on the rear doors, bottom left.

So, I dont think we are supposed to get any more badges other than the two on the wings. You can get them on E bay tho if you fancy some clip on ones for the grill (you can get S4 and RS4 on there too............!)

Good question: did you get S Line stitched matts like it says on the Audi website?

steve1234
13-05-2008, 03:05 PM
Hi Kevspi,

The re-map is supposed to give it 40bhp more and 60lb ft of torque more. So about 180bhp in total. They can do more but on the whole they think this is the best option.

I had my last (B7) s-line done and it was much better after. I hope they can really do the new engine as well.

I'm going to Germany so it's being done there at MTM, cost is still a little up for debate as a friend has a garage over there and an account with MTM.

steve1234
13-05-2008, 03:12 PM
Chris,

Yes, about right with the power gain, should turn out to be about 180bhp but with lots more torque. I have a lot of faith in them as they did my last one very well. Having a lower powered car then re-mapping it makes sense to me now as it reduces my tax!!!

I'll let you know how it gets on.....

Regarding the warranty the dealers never know on the last one and, in fact, did some ECU related re-calls and still never picked it up. So don't tell 'em and you'd be fine I think.

Chis / MKC - Regarding the mats, they are just normal mats but as I have the silver stitching they have silver stitching round the binding. If you've ordered the black stitching they will be plain black mats.

The s-line badges on mine are all you get, I had model and engine deleted from the back to make way for my MTM emblem!!!!

At least you will be able to give it a good run out to MTM in Germany then! If you can get them to confirm if they can do the re-map somewhere in the UK for me that would be great! I reckon they can squeeze more than 180bhp out of it! I reckon you should be aiming for 190bhp and then it should be great fun!I too have gone for the silver stiching! Chis,

I agree somewhat about the grill badge, I always thought that was nice and differentiated the s-line from the SE etc. - but I suppose the LEDs do that now!! Anyway try here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Audi-S-line-front-grill-badge-A3-A4-A6-A8-S3-S4-S6_W0QQitemZ380025105348QQihZ025QQcategoryZ10372QQ cmdZViewItemQQ_trksidZp1742.m153.l1262

They are a nice reliable lot!!!

With the silver stitching the mats look good, a bit different to normal but smart. The ones on e-bay are only for LHD.

MTM are a bit funny about their badges!!!! I will see if they are available as a stand alone thing but sometimes they aren't.

13-05-2008, 04:22 PM
Chris,

The LEDs are looking good!!!! They are definitely a statement, the headlamps are all over the place though, far to high, main beam is only any good for looking at birds in the trees!!!! They are being adjusted today so should be OK (bright though!)

OK, will ask about the UK re-mapping. I think they have an agent in Sussex somewhere??? If they let a badge go "un-accompanied" than I'll let you know!!!!

steve1234
13-05-2008, 04:38 PM
Hi Alex,

A re-map is undetectable to your normal Audi dealer. I had it on my previous car and the local dealer did a lot of work on the car and never commented. Don't know about insurance I'm afraid, although again would they know?? (I have a fleet policy covering everything!!!). And again, no idea about lease companies. Suppose it's their car so might be dodgy - but would they know?? Doubt it!!!

All I'd say is it transforms the car in my experience.

Steve, your car looks fantastic the S-line suspension really shows the car at it’s best, low aggressive stance. I am looking forward to receiving mine, just hope it will turn up with the S-line 30mm drop suspension!!

Thanks Julian,

I look forward to seeing yours, white with the 19s will look fantastic. I hope somebody gets to the bottom of the 19s + 30mm suspension dilemma!! It must be because of the slightly wider wheels when they are 19". I'm thinking of buying some 19s for mine as I think that will finish it off.
