Hi,

I purchased my car about 7 months ago, only with one key.

This works fine, except the fob doesn't open or lock the doors, I have to do this using the key.

I'd like 2 working keys with remotes.

What is the best way to do this..... can anyone recommend someone in the Crawley (West Sussex) or surrounding areas?

How much will it cost.

My remote is the 2 button HLO 1J0 959 753 A type.

Cheers

Hi!
Got my Passat last Monday, and have also only one key.
I have contacted two near VW dealers and if your ID and V5 are not a problem, the key+fob+reprograming cost £150.00 :mad:.It comes from VW Germany and the relates to the original data for your specific chassis (VIN) number. If any previous owner reprogrammed the keys, replaced locks, ecu or whatever, the key may not work at all.NO refunds :zx11:.

I then asked if there could be a check to see if my key was original, and was told that it is not possible to do a check:confused:.

Now I am looking at auto locksmith specialists to see if someone does it for less.

Had the same trouble with the spare key on mine.

Stick in 2 new batteries and re-sync the key to the car.

Info is in the handbook.

Thankyou, but I think you can only do this when you have another working key.........?

I would call a locksmith that can program and cut your keys. It should be cheaper, I do them in the US and they cost about $150.00.

Revla, did you ever get this sorted? Easiest way of getting this fixed is via vagcom, using vagcom you can force a re-sync of the remote centrol locking with the fob. I'd also recommend you get another key, I recently locked my car with only pair I had in the car!!!!! scary stuff.

A new key fob should be roughly £40 from ebay, getting it cut, well here in bradford is £10, getting it coded say a £10, then you have two working keys, pls you can sync both fobs to the central locking :)

What car have you got?

what year/reg is it?

does your remote have round or square buttons?

Sorry about all the questions but i need to know to help you further. i am a vehicle locksmith in nottingham, if you know your key number i can send you a remote cut to your car and arrange for a locksmith in your area to program it.

cheers

All you need is the top half of the remote, they are 3 sections to a flip key, remote, transponder and the blade.

i can send you out a remote with programming instructions.

i just need to know how many buttons your remote has and if they are square or round

cheers

Many thanks for all the replies!

Not sorted as yet, due to the turbo going back for its second refurb (apparently its a common fault having sludge building up in the sump of the 1.9tdi).

The fob is the two button version for a V reg '99 Passat. Can I grab your number Martyn?

cheers
