coming home from work i depressed the clutch and there was a snapping noise which i thought was from me just clipping the brake pedal as i depressed the clutch and my boot sole slipping off it, howeeve after that i found it hard to put into and out of gear. the fluid is fine and after its been sitting ive tried it again and its still the same any ideas?
also how much do you reckon it will be

I've had a quick look around and from the looks of it your pedal box may have gone, it seems to be a common fault on Polos and Ibizas of that age.

dont think its the box as the other pedals are unaffected, no slippage at all

I don't want to seem like a dog with a bone but these are symptoms of pedal box problems :

Clutch pedal lower than brake pedal
Stiff gear change
Crunching into reverse
Hard to engage first
Clunky when moving 5th to 4th, 3rd to 2nd.
Very Low bite point.

You seem to be suffering from a stiff gear change so maybe more symptoms are there too. If it's not sorry for being a pain:(

Sounds like pedal box to me as well but it is usually the result of a heavy clutch and worn cable, we often end up doing all three.

Dear all I need some help with My Clutch - New Forum User.

Seat Ibiza 2005 1.4 Reference 5 door Manual.

Clutch is very high - when performing uphill reverse around corner had a burning smell. Trying to identify if it has a Cable or Hydraulic Clutch, and also if it is meant to be self adjusting?

Can anybody help? Discussed with mechanic quoted anything between £250 to £700 subject to what is wrong with it

Thanks

It is hydraulic and self adjusting.
