Hello. My Passat tdi currently chucks out 110bhp. I'm thinking of uprating the beast to 130 or 150????. To do this i was thinking that an ecu swap from another motor would do the trick or is there more to it than simplicity? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers...

hi,you can get a genuine VAG tuning box on ebay for less thaan £100 for more or less the same result and it simply plugs in so if you change cars you can take it off and sell or if you get another VAG car use it on that, cheers calum

p.s there is also a version for the PD engine which is £229 .

as above really, get the chip remapped, you cant just swap and change ecus :aargh4: my gt tdi golf is getting the remap treatment, friendly friend of a friend hs offered to remap for £150, put the feelers out, its that common nowadays, you should be able to get it done as a favour or at a reduced price by a competant company.

In all likelihood a different ECU will not "operate" your car properly and worsen the situation. Just get it chipped. Jabbasport would be your best bet as they had a 110 octavia TDI as a project car. They didn't go all out on it, but pretty sure they ran it for over a year pushing 150+ bhp without too many extra mods than just the remap. You won't regret going there.

Tell them Jason with the crazy silver fabia sent you, and ask if I get a referral discount on my next tuning session there this year! hehehe! :D

one last pointif you have all this extra go make sure you can stop as well (get the brakes sorted as well...either grooved disk's and uprated pads, or you might just need uprated pads)
