Hi

I have a B7 a4 cabrio with a black dash. It had hand controls fitted to it which have left a single hole in the shroud below the steering column. This is the shroud that protects the lower/underside of the dash from feet/knees.

Rather than buy the complete plastic shroud (note not the steering column shroud itself) I though if I could buy a single bung/blanking off plug that is bigger than this hole and save money. Dimensions of the hole are roughly 27 x 37mm

Looking around this car the only bungs I can find are either side of the transmission tunnel near the lower air vents. However these are not quite big enough.

Are any of you aware of black audi bungs/blank offs (can be off any audi with a black dash) bigger than 27 x 37mm. I would be extremley gratefull, I could then order from Audi. If I went to Audi, I supsect they would be very unhelpfull in this matter and try and sell me a new shroud !

Thanks

Not to be defeatist, but I think you will end-up buying a new shroud.

By the measurements you have given, it's a square hole... I have only ever seen bungs for round holes! The ill-fitting bungs you've currently got are probably supplied by the people who removed the hand-controls, not Audi.

The alternative is to go to a company who repair dashboards. Body shops often contract-in upholstery / dashboard plastics repairers; you could contact a few and ask.
They would insert some colour-matched plastic and then melt it together... but this doesnt always look great!

Ultimately, i don't think you can buy an Audi with hand-controls fitted; this work is always carried out by after-market specialists. If I'm correct, then there's no chance that Audi will have bungs for a hole that is never intended to exist on their cars!

I hope that helps. My advice.. don't waste too much time trying to find an exact part to do the job.. just put your hand in your pocket and buy the shroud!

All the best

Heads-up!

If you have a cream / beige coloured interior, this may just be your lucky day!
