a4 quattro gearbox suitability

hi all, i have an A4 Audi, which was purchased with no gearbox! i am wondering if any other model of audi's gearbox will fit my model!? it is a A4 Quattro 1.9TDi 1997 model ! not sure if petrol or even A6 / A8 models will fit or if different size engine A4's will fit!? can anyone please advise! i have also posted in the wanted section that i am looking for a gearbox!! many thanks

read the sticker in the spare wheel well. It will tell you correct engine and gear box model.

Manuals tend to fit more models that auto's.

Ratio's do get altered between A4's & A6's and also between some engine sizes.

HI, have had a look at the rear wheel well and the engine code is AFN and there are 2 other codes after that which is DAJ and DGW, hope this helps thanks very much!:D

The only two I can see that are suitable are DGW and EEP.

The EEP was only fitted to the A4 TDI q from 08/98 to 01/00.
