Hi there, my Polo 1.4CL 97' just failed mot!

Going to do the work myself!!

Rear wheel bearing? Pain in the *** to fit or simple?

I hear this is a common fault with the wheel bearings when you have fitted non-standard wheels, im guessing it puts more strain on them, is this correct?

Thanks in advance

Dan.

dependant on exsperience the bearings arn't that bad to do,you only need drift and a hammer, after the wheel and drum are off of course, you are right in saying bigger wheels than standard do cause more bearing wear

Hi
It depends on the bearing set up. If there are two seperate bearings it is possible to drift (knock Out) the bearings individually. If they are cartridge type (where the two bearings are made up in one long tube), then you really need a hydraulic press, to press out the old bearings from the hub and press the new ones in, without causing any damage.
The newer Polo has the bearings built into the hub itself and you renew the hub.
