Air Con Problem - '98 1.8 A4 Avant

Hi,

I've read the posts re Air Con problems, but I'm no wiser.
The snowflake icon is STAYING ON, but the compressor isn't kicking in. I've checked the gas and the pressure appears fine.

I've tried to read the faults via VAG-COM but i'm getting "too many communication errors" so no fault codes.

Any ideas?

It turns out that my high pressure switch is open???

Update:

Sorted. I checked the continuity of the wires feeding the switch and one was broken. New bypass wire and I've cold air again. Just in time for the summer :D
