Wondering if anyone can help:confused: Leon Cupra R 225 was in garage yesterday for a major service which was done and I paid for. I cant remember exactly what sensor it was they said they replaced, but a sensor was replaced as they said the car was getting "hot." So I drove home all was well and on the way in to work thismorning temp gauge rises to 3/4 and the Engine Managment Light keeps flashing on and off, but have had the car for 2 years now and not ever had a problem with it, it was fine the day before the service, fine on the way to drop car off for the service, and now its had a service all this is happening:aargh4::mad::zx11::angryfire Anyone with any ideas what it could be would be a great help. Nice 1

Could be a faulty temp sender.

Did you have the cam belt done as part of the service ?

Best to let the garage know that your unhappy that this never happened prior to servicing.

I was in the process of replying to your "anyone out there post" last night and at that precise moment, we had a power cut!

Get back to the garage and get them to do a fault code read.

Chears for the reply's lads, have taken it back to garage and have been told that I need a new water pump:aargh4: I just find it a bit strange how I have not had a problem with the car apart from wear and tear for two years and then straight after having the service that happens, it is a late 2002 model with only 25,000 miles and full service history, do water pumps usually go this
early:confused: I have been quoted just over £300 for this to be changed but that includes the cambelt aswell as they said they need to take that off or something to get to the water pump, does £300 sound like alot of money for the job or is that reasonable:biglaugh:

Very common fault as the water pump has a plastic impeller and they brake off, reason behind the 60k or 4 year cambelt interval.

£300 is a good price, your best bet is to get a waterpump with a metal impeller done.

Your very lucky as it has caused £x,000's of damage to other VAG cars.

I am a bit suspicious about that, it doesn’t sound right so ask them for the water pump, mind you they are easy to break…

Yeah I will do, just as i got it to the garage the temp was nearly at full, do u think this could have caused more damage or not??

That is either water pump or thermostat but you said the check engine light came on?

Yeah the engine managment light was falshing on and off, so rang garage and they said to take it there, so I turned around and went there but by the time I was there the temp had nearly hit the max, could that have caused more damage other than the water pump they said was faulty causing it to overheat in the first place.

LETS HOPE:biglaugh:

I once drove my saxo to the garage because of overheating and steam was coming out of the engine bay, temp was on max for a while.

Drove another 35,000 miles withouut a problem:biglaugh:

Sounds like it could well be the pump mate. Make sure they change the impeller for a brass one, and alson include a tensioner change with the cam belt too.
