Have tried to clear the faults with Vag-com but even though they've cleared (on vag-com), I still activate the alarm when opening the driver door + the central locking doesn't work. - Currently using car by opening the passenger door and all seems ok - how do I cure this fault ?? Any help much appreciated.
Thx, Steve.

Cheers Crasher - I will have a look tonight. Is there any extra checks I could run to determine actual fault or just replace the switch ?;)

You should be able to watch the door lock switch actuation in Measuring Blocks 08, Measured Value Block 001, Display zone 3 where there are four positions of which the second group of two signify

00 = not actuated
01 = lock
10 = unlock
11 = not permitted

Update :- yesterday I replaced the micro-switch/lead at the back of the door lock and everything is back working again.
Part cost £35 from dealer - quite steep, but it least I can open the door now w/o triggering the alarm.
Thanks very much for your help.

Can you post the partnumber you replaced? Cheers..

Micro-switch part number - 8D0959985
£29.47 & VAT.
Not too difficult to fit - just the awkward bracket at the back of the lock/handle assembly which keeps it all together - great fun !
Also remember to connect back the correct electric window connections !
Cheers.
