hi, can anybody help guide this ladies spanner in the right direction
me beetles started to rev itself up, intermittantly, up to about 2/3 thousand revs, it soon corrects
but its a weird feeling when the car starts pulling you along all by itself !
2002 2.0ltr auto
am looking at the throttle control stepper motor......and intuition tells me ...........maybe ??

You need to get a fault code read done first.

How about buying yourself a VAG-COM cable from forum member Eshrules. This will allow you to use the shareware version of VAG-COM which you can upgrade to a full version for $99, although this is the rather old version 409. Using VAG-COM you can make some progress towards sorting the problem yourself.

Hey,
like the sound of that crasher, .............it really is a bit of a thing of mine to be independent, and fix things myself, wether it be the boiler / car / cycle / handbag strap !!
how do i get hold of this guy and the software, how much is the cable ?

just to close this thread, fault turned out to be a faulty coolant temp sensor, easy fix
