I have just fitted a cruise control kit to my 2002 2.0ltr Petrol Passat, but am unable to activate the cruise control using Vag Com 409.1. The stalk works ok on Indicators and Lights. No faults showing on Vag Com, but when entering 11463 as the login I get the error messsage:- Login Code Not Accepted by Controller

What engine? "2.0ltr Petrol" doesn't mean much.

Hi Uwe
Appologies for the abreviation 2.0ltr Petrol :o
As mycarsavw said the Passat engine is an ALT 2.0 130bhp.
Any ideas on the reason for the VagCom error message???
thanks

The documentation says the login you are using is appropriate and the VAS is using the same. So the question becomes which values do you have in MVB 066?

Hi All
Went out to try Theresias suggestion (although wasn't sure how to find MVB 066). I also noticed that I didn't get other modules come up when scanned, so decided to reinstall VagCom software. As soon the software was up and running I was able to activate the cruise control using 11463 Login. So it look as if somewhere along the line the inital software was corrupted enough to prevent me trying to activate CC - very frustrating:(
All well as ends well as they say and I am the happy owner of a Passat with working Cruise control.:D
{ Not sure if it has been done before but does any body want a How To Guide (including pictures) for installing cruise control into a B5.5 Passat }

A 'how to' guide would be most helpful.

I've just ordered a CC kit from Vagparts, so I'll hopefully be fitting it this week.

I had a look at the Haynes manual to see what was involved in removing the steering wheel and it said the bolts need to be replaced, assuming that I have bolts and not the nut. Anyone know when they changed from one to the other, or is it random?

I tried VAGCOM for the first time yesterday. So far so good :D

Hi daveo138
Will try to put some text to the pictures taken, over the next day or two.
So far as the steering wheel is concerned on my Passat 02 the S/wheel is held on by a single bolt, which can be reused. Your method may depend on the car and year

Just to reactivate the topic.
My car is Audi A6 99 2.4l tiptronic Quattro petrol engine (code APZ)
I bough similar cruise control kit, and i tried to activate the engine for using it before i actually installed it.
I am using VCDS 805.3 / 20090213
When i try to login with this code 11463 i receive the same error - Login Code Not Accepted by Controller. I tried the deactivation code 16167 and the same error occur. No errors were found in Fault codes (02).
Looking in the meas. blocs (08) in group 066 return in all boxes "N/A".
Any help?

PS:
The car does not have CAN, if this have any meaning. The instrument is with analog clock, not with electronic one.

Replace the brake light switch.

When you use your lap top in the car, do you use a 12v to lap top power converter?

nmm
16-04-2009, 01:03 PM
No i do not use power converter, i use the laptop on battery.
This errors occur from a while, the switch was already replaced, the error occurs some time, some time not. The service man tells me that this is "normal".

Go into Engine 01, Measuring Blocks 08, Main Group 066 which is the display group with the binary bits readout for the clutch and brake light switches. Check that the bin bits are 000 with the pedals at rest and that it goes to 100 with the clutch pressed down and to 011 with the brake pedal pressed down. 066 is also where you can observe the operation of the cruise control switch.

I asked about the power supply as I had five VAG-COM interfaces fail on me until I found out it was me using a power adapter. There is a warning about this on Ross Techs web site but it is so well hidden you have to be a detective to find it.

Which country are you in? Send me your email by personal message (PM).

ok, i will later today. I think I read already group 066, and only "N/A" was shown. But I will try again.

I go to engine 01, measure blocks 08, enter in the first group at the top "066", click Go, and N/A is shown in the four boxes?!? The car is with automatic transmission (tiptronic).

todai I follwed these instructions, again without success:

On vehicles with automatic gearbox, cruise control system switch is only supplied with power at speeds in excess of 30 km/h and with selector lever set to 2, 3 or D. Power supply is then maintained even at idle, provided that gear (other than 1 or R) is engaged.
Perform test drive, exceeding a speed of 30 km/h once. Then leave engine running and selector lever set to 2, 3 or D. Apply parking brake. ....
Again nothing in group 066, and also login code 11463 is not accepted.
The car is with replaced engine (original engine code AGA, current engine code APZ) and may be here is the problem. I bought the car with this situation - have no idea was is actually made.

Your ECU (4B0 907 552 C) will not accept cruise as it is for an AGA engine. The AGA engine is cable throttle, the APZ is drive by wire and the cruise system you are trying to do is only for drive by wire cars. Your throttle body is operated by a cable with a wire and plug for idle and feedback info. When the engine was changed, it was converted to AGA spec.
