Mk1 A3 - Blue Smoke Bandit

Hi

I'm currently having some problems with my 98 Audi A3 and just wondered if anybody has had the same problem as me, and give me some advice on how I could go about sorting it out...

Since a month or so ago the car has been burning vast quantities of oil and chucking out blue smoke when I go to move off after sitting for a while; people have suggested valve stem seals and piston rings but i'm not too keen on removing the head (If needs be) and would prefer to try everything else (If there is anything else!)....

I'd also appreciate it if anybody could tell me how bad valve seals are to do on an A3...

hi pal i have got the same problam at the min but i have don the head gasket and it is naw smokeing like mad it can be oley 2 thinks one being the stam seals or two the ring thats whot i have to do naw not happy bcoz i have had the head off ones but nees must and i now that it is not cheep:zx11:
