hi, just joined up as i need a little help! i have just purchased a VW Passatt Sport TDI on a 52 plate. the guy we bought it off was told it needed a new gear box- but we took out for a drive and we were not convinced it was this... so we bought it and got it for an absolute bargain price ! the problem is it makes a sort of whirring noise constantly- it doesnt stop even when coasting and it gets louder the faster you go- we have been told it is a diff bearing and have been quoted £450 + vat to sort..... does anyone know anything about diff bearings and does it sound like this is what it is? Thanks
