Is there a way of soften up my suspension in my 2005 ALTEA. Ride is too crashy. Can anybody recommend shocks for this model. And also tyres are very loud at speed theres no name on them, so will replace them which ones should i pick. I have 16" alloys and was thinkin of Continental sport contact 2. Any thoughts will be very helpfull.:1zhelp:

Bridgestones seem to get the thumbs down for noise.
Suspension is "firm" to counteract height/roll of car.
If you soften up suspension you'll need crank up antiroll bar thickness.

The Best tyres I have ever used that were also quiet are

Goodyear F1 GS-D3

As for suspension everyone I know swears by Bilstein shocks for both comfort and performance, as for me I'm still on the crashy OEM stuff.

Ended up getting rid of my Altea XL 1.9 TDI because of the suspension. Loved the car, but it wrecked my back - I do high miles so it became a big problem.

I even tried lumbar support pads but to no avail. I think it wasn't just the shocks from bumps but the constant vibration through the seat.

Kids weren't impressed in the back either - funny though, they only told me after it'd gone!

Real shame, otherwise a superb car.

Hope you find a solution.
