Hi Guys.

I have a 2000 model year 225bhp Audi TT Cabrio. Stunning car, but after only 6 weeks of ownership it has had a non-start moment.

Fault code 17978 P1570 is present and I can find alot of references to it and scary stories about faulty Immobiliser and potentially an expensive repair bill, however, this TT has also blown the 15a Fuse that is related to the fuel pump and replacing the fuse just see's it blow again.

Is there a chance that it could be the fuel pump itself that is faulty, or should I be looking for wiring issue's??

Which engine code, APX or BAM?

Damn, I don't know and aren't close to the car right now.

have you checked that 15a is the correct rating?

Well, no I haven't, but since I took a 15a fuse out and it's not been a problem until now, I would think it's right?

The harder I look at this, the more I wonder if it is a problem inside the immobiliser. Sounds scary!

I imagine it will be an APX engine if it is a 2000 model. It would be fuse 28. That is a 15a fuse. It is only there for the fuel pump and nothing else. Which scare mongering muppet told you it was the immobiliser?

I was only thinking immobiliser because the code seems to refer to that and most of the info I find on Google refers to Immobilisation issues. Of course then I found stuff referring to Dash pods and other scary things too.

So maybe I should throw a fuel pump at it and see if that cures it. Hopefully its not a wiring issue!!

If I get a chance, I will pop back and check the engine code, if thats even relevant now.

Well that’s because this muppet didn’t read your first post again, been out twice since I first read it. You do have an immobiliser problem there but that isn’t linked to fuse 28 blowing, if it is fuse 28. You need to scan the instruments to see what fault codes are stored in the immobiliser.

OK, do you know if you need VAGCOM for that? I have access to Sun Modis, which is a fairly comprehensive diagnostic tool (£6k worth), which is what was used to get this far.

The Modis should bee able to read the instruments.

OK, look forward to getting back on it now! Hopefully this will throw some light on the subject.

Thanks so much for your help. Will post later with what I find.
