Hi all,

I'm New here.

I'm thinking of buying a Transporter Van, I've seen a 1.9 T28, can you guys tell me the difference between the T28 and the T5. I understand the T5 is the newer model T4 but where does the T28 come into it ?

Cheers.

T28 means that the gross vehicle weight is 2800kg. T30 is 3000kg & T32 is 3200kg.
T4's were made up to 53 plate when the new T5 came out. They do make a T26 too.

Ok......Been looking on the Autotrader website and found an LT28...this vehicle looks nothing like a Transporter.

I did a search for T28 and T5 both vans look the same to me  although the T5 seems to go for more money.

Come-on guy's...... someone must know the difference.

I dont want to spend any cash before I know what I'm buying.

t28 does not refere to an LT they are LT model vans the numbers are the Gross max weight, they also show the bhp on the wings on most models.

Hhhmmmmm, followed that link of yours Tony. Now thats a tasty motor:D.

Bit flash for me though, I'm looking for Something for work. Still want it to be nice but am gunna be throwing (placing) tools in and out of it.

I've got a Navara Aventurer at mo which to be honest I do love, with the sat nav, bluetooth, air con etc, etc. But its just not practicle enough for me, so its going and funding a Transporter.

Mine is my work van. Had it nearly 2 yrs now. I just don't park it on site where it could get hit by a forklift or something. Got a large box in the back for all my tools and this works well. You'll want to get the 174 hp model if you have the powerful Navara at the moment.

I was thinking about the 102hp or is it 104hp? ..........I'm trying to cut my fuel costs too and looking at all the charts the 102/104hp looks like the most efficient.

The navara drinks fuel like its going out of fashion, probably £100 a week is my average cost but I do clock up some miles. If i can cut it by say £20 its a lot of cash over the year (£1000) and I'm all-for maximizing my profits (Or spending it on some Festool gear;)).

The T4 I had before was a 2.5 TDi 102hp. Plenty of pull there. The new T5's were 1.9 104 hp then they reduced it to 102 to comply with emissions or something. I had a 1.9 102hp as a courtesy van when mine was serviced last and it's pretty gutless . The fuel consumption of the 130 hp isn't a lot better than the 174.
Festool tools are the bolx. Got a Planex drywall sander at the moment, hell of a piece of kit.
